Details
Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.” Data Science works in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Design to influence the roadmap and better understand users through experimentation, analytics, and advanced modeling.
In this role within the consumer organization, you will improve the customer experience across Coinbase’s consumer products, including spot and advanced trading, yield, Coinbase One, international expansion, prediction markets, and equities trading. You will define and instrument key metrics, build measurement and causal frameworks, and translate insights into product strategy and shipped improvements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analysis and deep dives on ambiguous business problems, producing insights and recommendations that guide decision-making.
- Own a broad scope of data and metrics, from core logging through the presentation of data visualizations.
- Guide code reviews and provide SQL and Python expertise.
- Create and maintain well-maintained ETL jobs.
- Maintain a high standard of statistical rigor, including experimentation and causal analyses that build stakeholder confidence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Computer Science, with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or a PhD in a quantitative field with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience driving impactful data science projects in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Ability to influence stakeholders by synthesizing data findings into compelling narratives.
- Practical expertise applying complex modeling frameworks to business problems.
- Professional experience using SQL and Python.
- Experience working with digital products in an iterative development cycle.
- Clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution.
- Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots, such as LibreChat, Gemini, and Glean, while applying human-in-the-loop practices.
Compensation
The target annual base salary is £122,400–£136,000 GBP, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits including medical, dental, and vision.
Candidates may submit a maximum of three applications within a six-month period.
