Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Grafana Cloud Observability

Grafana Cloud Observability is focused on helping developers understand the health and performance of their applications and infrastructure by providing tools to instrument code, ingest observability data into Grafana Cloud, and visualize and explore it.

As part of the Cloud Integrations team, you will develop and maintain integrations that allow customers to collect, visualize, and act on telemetry from various systems and applications. The software you create will be a core building block for Grafana Cloud users and will directly impact the platform's out-of-the-box experience.

The team works with open-source technologies including Prometheus and OpenTelemetry, with opportunities to contribute upstream.

Responsibilities

• Develop tooling that powers Grafana Cloud integrations and observability apps.
• Develop, maintain, and scale infrastructure observability features in Grafana Cloud.
• Ship features end to end, from the user interface through backend services, dashboards, and alerts.
• Work across the full stack, including React panels, Go services, and Jsonnet monitoring mixins.
• Own projects from the problem statement through production, including user discussions and validating outcomes.
• Write design proposals, run demos, and advocate for the team's roadmap in cross-team discussions.
• Contribute upstream to Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana Alloy where appropriate.
• Participate in the on-call rotation for owned services.
• Use AI coding assistants for prototyping, test generation, refactoring, documentation, and incident follow-ups while maintaining strong code review and quality standards.
• Collaborate effectively in a remote-first environment through written communication and video meetings.

Requirements

• Interest in working across the full stack with a product-focused mindset.
• Experience with both backend and frontend development. The team uses Go and TypeScript; experience with comparable languages may translate well.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development, including coding agents and LLM tooling.
• Ability to communicate concerns early, advocate for team work, and contribute visibly to organizational decisions.
• Working knowledge of the observability ecosystem, including Prometheus, Grafana dashboards, alerting, and operating systems in production.
• Strong written communication skills for working through documentation, issues, and pull requests across multiple time zones.
• Experience with TypeScript and React for frontend development.
• Experience with Golang for backend development.
• Experience with Jsonnet or another configuration-as-code language is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Grafana Alloy, the OpenTelemetry Collector, or similar telemetry pipeline tooling is beneficial.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects, building developer tooling, creating Grafana plugins, apps or dashboards, or participating in on-call rotations is beneficial.

Compensation

The US OTE/base compensation range is USD $154,445–$185,334. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skill set. The role includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
