Details
Reddit Consumer Engineering builds and scales products that help Redditors discover content, participate in communities, and connect with others. This role supports several consumer teams across core product and feeds, community and presence, growth and engagement, monetization and conversion, and identity and security.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve user-facing iOS experiences that help people discover, consume, create, and engage with content and communities.
- Lead projects through the full development lifecycle, from product definition and technical design to implementation, experimentation, launch, and ongoing improvement.
- Partner with product, design, data science, ML, backend, and platform teams to shape strategy, translate technical capabilities into intuitive experiences, and deliver measurable user impact.
- Improve iOS architecture, performance, reliability, accessibility, developer workflows, and engineering standards.
- Mentor teammates and drive cross-functional technical initiatives.
Requirements
- Professional experience developing native iOS applications with Swift and a strong understanding of iOS frameworks and application architecture.
- Experience building and shipping consumer-facing native applications at scale.
- Ability to write idiomatic, readable, reusable, and testable code.
- Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, reliability, and maintainability.
- Experience designing mobile systems and interfaces, evaluating architectural tradeoffs, and building scalable features from APIs through user-facing UI.
- Experience with experimentation, feature flags, instrumentation, analytics, and product or quality-of-experience metrics.
- Strategic, product-minded approach with the ability to connect technical decisions to user and business outcomes.
- Clear and collaborative communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tradeoffs, influence stakeholders, and build alignment across teams.
- Curiosity, adaptability, ownership, and a willingness to embrace experimentation, learn from setbacks, improve processes, and help others succeed.
- Familiarity with AVFoundation, VideoToolbox, HLS, media playback, recommendation systems, accessibility, or ML-integrated products is a plus.
