Details

Grafana Labs is developing Grafana’s next-generation storage layer. The Grafana Search & Storage squad manages Unified Storage, a Kubernetes-inspired platform for interacting with data, as well as Search, the unified engine for finding and querying Grafana data, and Folders for hierarchical content management.

Responsibilities

Influence the roadmap and career objectives.
Deliver new features, evaluate results, and iterate for improvement.
Drive projects from initial ideation through operations and customer delivery.
Contribute to open-source projects, including projects outside the team’s direct scope.
Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, taking ownership of reliability, performance, and availability.
Participate in on-call rotations and own the services you operate.
Mentor and support team members, participate in design discussions, and collaborate with the team.
Develop a deeper understanding of Grafana Cloud, customers, and a large distributed-system codebase.
Communicate effectively and work independently in a remote-first engineering organization.

Requirements

Pragmatic approach to complex challenges, including analyzing, designing, and building modular solutions, delivering MVPs, gathering feedback, and iterating.

Solid experience with Go, Rust, Python, or similar programming languages.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with large distributed systems.
Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through product launch.
Experience developing cloud-based software or working in systems engineering.
Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.

Bonus Points

Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles, including on-call work, or through hobby or homelab projects.
Familiarity with on-call work, operations, SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code.
