Senior Software Engineer, Home Experience

Reddit is a community of communities, with more than 100,000 active communities and approximately 130 million daily active unique visitors. The Home Experience team owns the Feed pages across Reddit's apps and website, helping users explore Reddit through smooth, intuitive, and delightful feed experiences at immense scale.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering partners to build products and features for Reddit users.
• Contribute to engineering standards, improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and mentor engineers.
• Own the full development cycle for major projects, including design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Write and review code and design documents, provide feedback on product specifications and mocks, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Drive planning, development, and implementation across Reddit's backend service architecture for native mobile and web clients as part of a full-stack team.
• Enable metrics-led execution with a focus on operational excellence and system observability.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop a roadmap aligned with product and engineering goals.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a software engineer developing user-facing applications.
• Fluency working with product metrics and designing and analyzing experiments, with exposure to tools such as BigQuery, HEX, and Firebase.
• Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Python, Go, Swift, Kotlin, Rust, or C#.
• Experience using GenAI tools to increase software engineering productivity.
• Experience working with machine learning engineering teams and integrating machine learning solutions is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to break down and prioritize tasks while keeping projects on schedule.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong focus on user experience and usability, with an ability to understand how people think and interact with software. Social product experience is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, self-direction, innovation, and a bias toward action.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a fully remote environment with technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation

The base salary range is $190,000–$267,000 USD. Final offer amounts depend on factors including skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses or credentials. The role may span more than one career level.
