About Sentry
Software runs the world and the pace is faster than ever. Sentry helps developers fix errors and performance issues before users notice, so teams can spend less time firefighting and more time building.
Trusted by more than 200,000 organizations, Sentry is an application monitoring standard, and its team is building its AI-native future.
About the Role
Sentry's SDKs instrument dozens of platforms and its ingest pipeline processes billions of events every day. The Telemetry Experience team owns the product surfaces and APIs where that telemetry becomes something developers can use to debug.
As a Senior Software Engineer on Telemetry Experience, you will own the experience across the sentry.io product, using Python/Django and PostgreSQL on the backend and React and TypeScript on the frontend. You will work with SDK teams on what gets sent and with ingest teams on how it arrives, then own the APIs, workflows, and interfaces customers use. The goal is to make the experience feel native to every developer, whether they ship a backend service, mobile app, or game.
Responsibilities
- Own projects end to end, from customer feedback through scoping, design, implementation across the stack, rollout, and measurement.
- Write design documents, break work into shippable pieces, and follow projects through launch and measurement.
- Work across the full stack of the Sentry monolith, including React and TypeScript in the browser and Django and PostgreSQL behind the API.
- Partner with SDK and ingest teams to shape telemetry contracts.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and product engineers.
- Improve user experience details such as empty states, error messages, loading behavior, performance, and edge cases.
Requirements
- Five or more years of professional experience building and shipping full-stack web applications.
- Strong experience with React and TypeScript, and with Python using Django or a similar framework backed by a relational database such as PostgreSQL. Depth in one area and real competence in the other is acceptable.
- A track record of driving non-trivial projects end to end, including work requiring alignment across teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
- Ability to work independently on ambiguous problems, own outcomes, communicate effectively in writing, and contribute across the full stack.
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with application monitoring and observability.
- Experience building developer-facing products, SDKs, or public APIs.
- Experience with high-volume data stores or streaming systems such as ClickHouse or Kafka.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
