NVIDIA has been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. Today, NVIDIA is using AI to define the next era of computing.
The Finance AI team is seeking a Senior Staff AI Engineer to design, build, evaluate, and operate the AI-powered applications, agents, and automation used by Finance. This is primarily an applied engineering role focused on building on top of foundation models, with opportunities to identify where customized Nemotron models outperform prompting and retrieval.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own agentic systems end to end, from scoping problems with finance partners through evaluation harnesses, retrieval quality, and production cost and reliability.
- Define architecture, shared primitives, development patterns, and quality standards for other engineers.
- Mentor engineers and represent AI engineering to Finance and NVIDIA leadership.
- Evaluate new models, agent frameworks, retrieval techniques, and tooling through hands-on experiments.
- Make clear build-or-no-build decisions based on experimental findings.
- Partner with the model team to leverage, fine-tune, and post-train NVIDIA's Nemotron models for finance use cases.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree, or equivalent experience, in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related technical field.
- More than 12 years of experience building and operating production systems, including at least 3 years working with LLM or agent systems.
- Track record as a core technical contributor who has shipped multiple LLM-powered applications or agents and owned them in production.
- Hands-on experience with skill-based workflows, evaluation harnesses, and agent orchestration frameworks.
- Expertise in advanced retrieval techniques.
- Deep, hands-on experience designing evaluations and observability for LLM systems.
- Strong Python skills and solid software engineering fundamentals.
- Extensive experience with agentic and adversarial software engineering.
- Understanding of LLM security and safety risks.
- Practical understanding of networks and operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to influence without authority, align engineers and business leaders on difficult decisions, and set direction across teams.
- Experience with NVIDIA's applied AI stack.
- Recognized expertise in applied AI, demonstrated through conference talks, open-source contributions, or published work.
- Experience in a large technology company or in finance-related work.
- Depth in fine-tuning and reinforcement learning techniques.
Benefits
