Details

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees are expected to get together quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.”

As a Software Engineer on the CDP Payment Acceptance team within the Developer group, you will build the stablecoin payment rail powering merchant checkout, subscriptions, and onchain settlement for businesses of all sizes. The team owns the end-to-end payment experience, from merchant-facing checkout components through gRPC orchestration services to onchain settlement workers across multiple EVM chains. You will ship full-stack features across the Go backend and React/Next.js frontend, contributing to Coinbase’s stablecoin payment rail for global commerce.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end feature delivery across Go backend services and the React/Next.js merchant-facing checkout experience, including gRPC/HTTP APIs, protobuf definitions, database migrations, and TypeScript client integrations.
  • Build and refine the buyer checkout UI, including payment links, embeddable web components, and wallet connection flows using WalletConnect, wagmi, and viem, with a focus on conversion, accessibility, and performance.
  • Implement durable, fault-tolerant payment workflows using Temporal for onchain settlement, refunds, and reconciliation against PostgreSQL.
  • Instrument changes with structured logs, metrics, and Datadog traces.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for shipped services.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and engineering teams, including CDP, Base, and Coinbase Business, to integrate Payment Acceptance into the broader Coinbase developer platform.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience shipping production systems in Go, including concurrency, gRPC, and testing.
  • Experience with TypeScript and React, including hooks, suspense, server components, and Next.js.
  • Demonstrated experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, query performance, and transactional correctness.
  • Experience designing APIs using protobuf/gRPC, REST, and OpenAPI.
  • Experience instrumenting production systems with structured observability tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or similar.
  • Experience building durable workflow systems using Temporal, Cadence, or Step Functions, or working with EVM blockchains, stablecoins, and onchain payment patterns.
  • A consistent record of writing clear design documents, pull request descriptions, and runbooks that enable cross-team collaboration and operational maturity.
  • Ability to use generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
  • Ability to use generative AI tools and copilots such as LibreChat, Gemini, and Glean in daily workflows, continuously learn as tools evolve, and apply human-in-the-loop practices.
