The Applied Foundations team at OpenAI develops secure, reliable infrastructure to defend against financial abuse, scaled attacks, and other forms of misuse. Integrity Foundations provides the core building blocks for detecting and mitigating adversarial behavior across the platform.

In this role, you will work with the broader engineering team to design and implement systems that detect and prevent abuse, promote user safety, and reduce risk across OpenAI's platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance systems to detect and prevent financial fraud, botting, scripting, and other forms of abuse.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design solutions that protect against and mitigate adversarial attacks without compromising user experience.
• Assist with responding to active platform incidents.
• Build tooling and infrastructure that address fundamental abuse-prevention problems.
• Own problems end-to-end and develop the knowledge required to solve them.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience setting up and maintaining production backend services and data pipelines.
• Strong technical skills and the ability to quickly learn new tools and frameworks.
• Expertise in building software systems that defend against abuse in AI safety and production environments.
• Self-directed approach to problem-solving and willingness to support team success.
• Ability to build workflow tools when off-the-shelf solutions are insufficient.
