Anthropic Labs is an internal accelerator focused on rapidly developing and testing new products that bring substantial revenue or transform industries. The team works closely with AI research groups and builds through fast iteration cycles. Past successes include Claude Code and MCP.

The role involves working at the intersection of cutting-edge research and real-world applications to build new experiences, collaborate directly with researchers and users, and generate insights that shape Anthropic's product future. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, rapid experimentation, and discontinuing projects when evidence indicates that it is the right decision.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly prototype full-stack applications that showcase emerging AI capabilities, shipping early and often to maximize learning.
• Collaborate closely with research teams to understand new model capabilities and translate them into intuitive user experiences.
• Work with internal test users and external partners to gather feedback, iterate quickly, and validate or invalidate product concepts.
• Design and run structured experiments to test hypotheses, balancing creative exploration with rigorous evaluation.
• Generate documentation and insights to guide successful prototypes toward full product teams.
• Advocate for user experience and product considerations early in the research process.
• Provide feedback to research teams about model effectiveness and areas where capabilities can be improved.
• Contribute flexibly across Labs initiatives as organizational priorities and opportunities change.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building full-stack applications, with a track record of zero-to-one work in startup or startup-like environments.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and work effectively on projects with changing priorities.
• A hacker mentality, high agency, a bias toward shipping, and comfort with technical debt when it is the right tradeoff.
• A user-centric approach, including validating ideas with users before significant investment.
• Ability to learn from failed or discontinued projects and change direction based on evidence.
• Generalist skills and the ability to transition between different problem spaces.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
• Strong technical skills across modern web development stacks, including React, Node.js, and Python.
• Experience with APIs, databases, and cloud technologies.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive experiences.
• Interest in the societal impacts and ethics of technology.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The field of study should be relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building products involving AI/ML components or large language models.
• Experience collaborating directly with AI/ML research teams.
• Background in user research, interviews, and usability testing.
• Experience with both B2B and B2C product development or work across multiple industries.
• Design sensibility or hands-on UI/UX experience for AI-powered applications.
• Experience with real-time applications, WebSocket implementations, or complex frontend interactions.

Compensation and Logistics

• Annual salary: $320,000–$485,000 USD.
• Anthropic expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.
• Anthropic sponsors visas for some roles and candidates and makes reasonable efforts to support visa applications, including assistance from an immigration lawyer.
