Stripe is looking for new graduate software engineers to solve complex technical problems, build products and systems that can impact millions of businesses, and work collaboratively in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build solutions to challenging problems with far-reaching consequences.
  • Learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and mentorship from subject matter experts.
  • Work collaboratively on multi-person coding projects.
  • Contribute to projects across frontend, backend, infrastructure, or other technology areas.
  • Participate in code reviews and help safely update production systems.
  • Navigate and manage work in large codebases.
  • Lead small projects independently and contribute to larger projects alongside peers.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate development while applying critical thinking and professional judgment to review, refine, and validate outputs.
  • Communicate work clearly to stakeholders, team members, and other Stripe employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a directly related field obtained by summer 2027, or equivalent work experience.
  • New graduate candidates should have no more than 18 months of professional experience, excluding internships.
  • Programming experience through side projects or coursework. Stripe primarily works with Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go, though strong fundamentals and general programming knowledge are considered transferable to new languages.
  • Experience from internships or collaborative, multi-person coding projects in a university or professional setting.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and understand them through independent research and mentorship.
  • Clear written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate with high agency when navigating complex technical obstacles, including knowing when to work independently and when to ask for help.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized knowledge in one or more areas, such as frontend, backend, infrastructure, or other technologies, balanced with broad technical skills and knowledge.
  • Experience with code review practices and safely updating production systems.
  • Familiarity with large codebases.
  • Experience independently leading small projects and contributing to larger projects with peers.
