Details

Stripe is a technology company focused on building programmable financial infrastructure, reliable APIs, and risk and fraud infrastructure that help businesses start, scale, and serve customers globally.

Stripe is looking for new graduate software engineers to build products and infrastructure that support millions of businesses. The role involves solving complex technical problems, learning unfamiliar systems, collaborating on multi-person projects, and delivering work with meaningful impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build software solutions for complex problems without clear precedent.
  • Learn unfamiliar systems through independent research, mentoring, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Work collaboratively on multi-person coding projects.
  • Explain technical work clearly to stakeholders, team members, and colleagues.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate development while applying critical thinking and professional judgment to review, refine, and validate outputs.
  • Contribute to code reviews and safely update production systems.
  • Navigate and manage work in large codebases.
  • Lead small projects independently and contribute to larger projects alongside peers.
  • Navigate complex technical obstacles independently while knowing when to seek help.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a directly related field obtained by summer 2027, or equivalent work experience.
  • New graduate candidates should have no more than 18 months of professional experience, excluding internships.
  • Programming experience through side projects or coursework. Stripe primarily uses Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go, but candidates can learn new languages if they have strong fundamentals and general programming knowledge.
  • Experience from previous internships or collaborative coding projects in a university or professional setting.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and develop an understanding of them.
  • Clear written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized knowledge in one or more areas such as frontend, backend, infrastructure, or other technologies, together with broad technical knowledge.
  • Experience with code review practices and safely updating production systems.
  • Familiarity with large codebases.
  • Experience independently leading small projects and contributing to larger projects.
  • High agency when navigating complex technical obstacles, including knowing when to unblock oneself and when to ask for help.

Company Culture

Stripe values ambition, intensity, curiosity, humility, rigor, urgency, adaptability, kindness, measured risk-taking, and bold action in the absence of consensus.
