The Stripe Tax Capabilities team builds sophisticated solutions for large merchants with complex global tax requirements, automating intricate compliance use cases.

The role involves building software services and platforms that impact millions of Stripe users. You will work with design, product, and engineering teams to develop and maintain complex tax capabilities for Stripe's largest customers.

Responsibilities

Operate with limited oversight and own projects end to end, including scoping, designing, implementing, and productionizing features.
Work backwards from complex customer needs to identify opportunities and drive meaningful business impact.
Collaborate with stakeholders across product, design, infrastructure, marketing, and operations.
Debug production issues across services and improve the team's overall operational health.
Develop and execute both short- and long-term goals.
Establish and uphold best practices in engineering, security, and technical design.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

2+ years of industry software engineering experience, excluding internships and co-ops.
Strong coding skills in any programming language; the interview process is language agnostic.
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work across team workstreams and contribute to peers' success.
Ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external cross-disciplinary stakeholders.
Interest in working as a generalist across varying technologies and stacks to solve problems and delight internal and external users.

Preferred Qualifications

Track record of working directly with customers and influencing product decisions.
Experience integrating robustly with external systems and APIs.
Experience in both frontend and backend development.
