Details

Grafana Labs is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to help evolve Grafana's core architecture into a fully multi-tenant, scalable platform for Grafana Cloud applications. The role focuses on building an observability app platform where open-source and proprietary applications can integrate with dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry.

The position is remote, with candidates sought in the United States and Canada.

Responsibilities

Code new features, enhance the operational experience of developed systems, and iteratively improve them based on production insights.
Author, contribute to, and review design documents.
Take an active role in shaping the roadmap.
Mentor and support other team members.
Collaborate with teams across the organization and align work with other squads and external stakeholders.
Plan and roll out architectural changes safely to avoid service disruptions.
Own the customer experience by participating in weekday 12-hour-by-5-day and separate weekend 24-hour-by-2-day on-call rotations.
Use modern AI coding assistants for prototyping, test generation, refactoring, documentation, and incident follow-ups, subject to security guidelines and code-quality standards.

Requirements

Strong coding skills and operational experience, including responsibility for operating software you have built.
Experience working on SaaS platforms at scale.
Experience with distributed systems concerns such as scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, and high availability.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work across teams, make plans transparent, involve stakeholders, and respond constructively to feedback.
A pragmatic approach that prioritizes progress over perfection and handles ambiguity effectively.
Familiarity with Golang, or enthusiasm for learning it; Golang is used on the backend.

Compensation

The United States compensation range is $174,986–$209,983 USD. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset assessed during the interview process. Compensation ranges are country-specific; recruiters will discuss the applicable pay range and benefits for candidates applying from other locations.
