Details

Teleport is the AI Infrastructure Identity Company, building cryptographically secured identity for humans, machines, workloads, and AI agents. The company is remote-first and globally distributed.

The Data Engineer will be Teleport's first Data Engineer, responsible for building the internal data platform. This includes designing and owning pipelines and a warehouse that transform product usage, production costs, budgets, sales, and other company data into reliable, self-serve datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build data pipelines that ingest data from internal sources into a central warehouse.
  • Design performant, well-documented data models and schemas that can evolve as data and analytical requirements change.
  • Build data quality checks and validation into every stage of the pipeline.
  • Handle sensitive customer and user data responsibly, including access control, redaction, and retention policies.
  • Partner with product, engineering, finance, revenue, and other stakeholders to scope data sources and analytical tables.
  • Help teams gain self-serve access to the data they need.
  • Collaborate with Teleport engineers on a coding challenge in SQL and Go during the interview process.

Requirements

  • Builder mentality and experience building zero-to-one products.
  • Expertise in data modeling and SQL.
  • Extensive experience building data pipelines in Python or Go.
  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or a similar platform.
  • Experience with pipeline orchestration or transformation tooling.
  • Experience handling sensitive data, including access control and data retention practices.
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Comfort changing areas of focus and working directly with stakeholders across the company.
  • Collaborative, transparent, no-ego mindset and willingness to seek feedback.

Nice to Have

  • Go is your language of choice.
  • Background in mathematics or statistics.
  • Knowledge of Airflow, dbt, or similar tools.

Interview Process

  • Zoom meeting with a Teleport recruiter.
  • Zoom meeting with the hiring manager, including an overview of the coding challenge.
  • Collaboration on a SQL and Go coding challenge using GitHub. The challenge usually takes about two weeks and concludes with a solution review.
  • Offer if the challenge solution meets Teleport's requirements.
