Details

Anthropic is seeking a software engineer to join its Billing Platform team, which builds and operates the infrastructure that converts product usage into revenue across Claude.ai, the Developer Platform, Claude Code, and future products. The role focuses on production-critical billing infrastructure where correctness, data integrity, and auditability are essential.

Responsibilities

Design and ship billing capabilities end to end, including pricing primitives, payment flows, contract and entitlement models, and revenue data pipelines.
Build systems with strong correctness guarantees, including appropriate use of idempotency, reconciliation, and audit trails.
Design durable interfaces for billing APIs and revenue datasets that hide complexity and remain reliable as requirements change.
Make build-versus-buy decisions involving third-party billing, payment, and tax platforms.
Own payment capabilities such as authorization rates, retry logic, processing cost optimization, automated dispute response, and fraud controls.
Reduce manual work in enterprise contract amendments, pricing configuration changes, and billing support escalations.
Operate production systems, own SLOs for customer-facing flows, instrument revenue pipelines, and respond to operational incidents.
Partner with Product, Finance, Sales, Accounting, Legal, Growth, and other product teams.

Requirements

8+ years of experience building backend or platform systems in production.
3+ years leading large-scale, complex projects or teams as an engineer or technical lead.
Track record of shipping correct and maintainable systems in fast-moving environments with changing requirements.
Strong focus on correctness and data integrity, particularly when handling financial data.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and translate between Product, Finance, Sales, and Legal.
Minimum education of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Additional Qualifications

Experience building billing, payments, subscription, or fintech systems.
Experience integrating or extending third-party billing and payment platforms.
Experience with revenue reconciliation, financial reporting pipelines, or audit-compliant systems.
Experience with enterprise commerce, including CPQ, quote-to-cash, contract management, or B2B billing operations.
Experience optimizing payments in self-serve or product-led growth environments, including authorization rates, payment costs, fraud, and chargebacks.

Compensation

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD.

Work Policy and Sponsorship

Anthropic currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time. Anthropic sponsors visas where possible and makes reasonable efforts to support visa applications with an immigration lawyer.
