About the Role
Glean is hiring a Tech Lead Manager for the Admin Console team. This role leads the engineering team responsible for the admin experience used to deploy, govern, and scale Glean across organizations. The Admin Console is the control plane for enterprise activation, administration, and rollout, including authentication, data sources, permissions, governance, search settings, AI features, and deployment health.
This is a high-impact, full-stack leadership role requiring strong technical direction, architecture ownership, close partnership with Product and Design, and team development. The team is evolving the Admin Console from a system focused on crawlers and data setup into a broader control plane for enterprise context, actions, governance, live data, and AI configuration.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the Admin Console engineering team through people leadership and strong technical direction.
- Own architecture and execution for admin-facing workflows, including data source setup, security configuration, deployment management, and feature rollout controls.
- Partner closely with Product and Design to simplify complex enterprise workflows and make the admin experience intuitive and scalable.
- Evolve the Admin Console into a control plane for enterprise context, actions, governance, and AI capability management.
- Improve self-service activation so administrators can launch their organizations faster with less reliance on human support.
- Improve visibility into crawl health, connector status, indexing progress, permissions, and rollout readiness.
- Build systems and workflows that help administrators safely scale Glean across users, teams, and capabilities.
- Collaborate with backend, connector, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver unified admin experiences on top of platform and infrastructure layers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building production distributed systems or cloud-native applications.
- 1+ years of engineering management experience leading a full-stack team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong coding skills in at least one of Python, Go, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
- Product-minded approach with an emphasis on customer impact, clear SLAs/SLOs, and pragmatic iteration.
- Ownership-driven, positive, and proactive approach, with the ability to lead projects and learn from experienced engineers.
- Experience building enterprise SaaS, enterprise platforms, admin consoles, or similarly configurable product experiences.
- Experience working on products where usability, governance, permissions, and technical complexity are important.
- Experience mentoring engineers with different technical strengths, including frontend and backend engineers.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and shape roadmap, architecture, and team execution in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and comfort partnering with Product, Design, Security, and Platform teams.
Location
- Hybrid role requiring four days per week in the Mountain View or San Francisco office.

Interview Process
Candidates complete a brief AI-focused exercise or discussion about how they think about, design, and use AI to drive impact. Prior Glean experience is not required.
