Details

Anthropic is hiring a Technical Program Manager to lead high-priority safety and security programs that advance defense in depth for AI agents. The role coordinates work across teams to strengthen how agents are developed and deployed safely and securely, and to bring internally developed tools to customers and partners using Claude.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and extend the company-wide roadmap for agent safety and security work across multiple teams.
  • Turn program goals into measurable exit criteria for each phase, adapting to changes in AI capabilities and the threat landscape.
  • Maintain key metrics and dashboards.
  • Run the operating rhythm, including lead meetings, working groups, design reviews, and executive check-ins.
  • Record decisions and actions, distribute situation reports, and follow up until open issues are resolved.
  • Lead communication with executives and contributors through conversations, regular reports, design documents, and decisional documents.
  • Maintain the risk register, tracking risks, exceptions, and risk acceptances and escalating key decisions to the appropriate decision makers.
  • Drive company-wide communications and partner with internal communications on progress updates and rollouts that change how employees work with Claude.
  • Coordinate subject-matter-specific TPMs and engineering managers without direct reporting authority.
  • Establish shared standards, identify coverage gaps, and augment capacity as needed.
  • Coordinate cross-team problems across Security, Safeguards, Research, Privacy, Legal, and Product.
  • Manage staffing tasks and organize exercises that test security controls.
  • Track relevant incidents, capability shifts, and research across frontier AI labs and incorporate lessons into threat models, roadmaps, and risk registers.

Requirements

  • Experience leading company-wide technical programs, particularly company-wide security programs with multiple workstreams, executive sponsors, and other program managers reporting into the program.
  • Strong background in at least one relevant domain, such as agent or infrastructure security, ML classifiers and monitoring, evaluations, inference infrastructure, protecting sensitive organizational data, or shipping security controls to customers.
  • Experience working closely with ML research teams and understanding how models are trained and evaluated.
  • Ability to work independently, set direction, make decisions, and escalate when appropriate.
  • Ability to hold senior engineers, researchers, and executives accountable without formal authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audiences ranging from executive leadership to company-wide employees.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude to automate tracking, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Interest in AI safety and keeping powerful systems under human oversight.
  • 10+ years of experience in one of the relevant technical domains.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Education or professional experience in a field relevant to the role.

Benefits

Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office space for collaboration. The company currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.

Anthropic sponsors visas and makes reasonable efforts to obtain a visa for candidates who receive an offer, with support from an immigration lawyer.
