Details

The Product Policy research team studies how people use and experience AI, generating evidence to inform product, policy, and safety decisions. The role focuses on large-scale longitudinal research on AI use and well-being, combining survey responses with behavioral data to understand how experiences with AI evolve over time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop study designs, survey measures, and analysis plans for longitudinal research on AI use and well-being.
  • Conduct statistical analyses of survey and behavioral data, including selection and response bias, account-linkage patterns, and sample representativeness.
  • Prepare and validate analysis-ready datasets, implement analysis plans, and produce summaries and visualizations using reproducible workflows.
  • Develop quality checks across survey programming, fieldwork, data delivery, and repeated study waves.
  • Manage day-to-day study execution, including timelines, vendors, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and privacy partners on responsible account linkage, data flows, logging, and retention.
  • Support human-subjects research review, including Institutional Review Board documentation, protocol amendments, and consent and assent processes.
  • Document methods, measures, assumptions, and protocol changes, and contribute materials for research readouts, publications, and peer review.
  • Communicate findings, limitations, and recommendations to technical and nontechnical partners.
  • Build reusable tools and processes that improve future studies.

Requirements

  • Experience conducting applied quantitative research in social science, behavioral science, human-computer interaction, statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong foundations in survey research and statistical analysis, with experience working on panel studies, longitudinal datasets, or human-subjects research.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Python or R for data preparation, analysis, validation, and visualization.
  • Understanding of how recruitment, missing data, participant attrition, and measurement choices affect interpretation and generalizability.
  • Ability to combine analytical work with practical execution while managing multiple timelines and collaborators.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to connect methodological choices and findings to decisions.
  • Sound judgment when working with sensitive data and research involving minors.
  • Ability to build structure in ambiguous environments and collaborate across disciplines.

Nice to Have

  • Experience combining survey responses with behavioral or product data.
  • Familiarity with preregistration, measure validation, reproducible research, and academic publication or peer-review processes.
  • Experience working with research vendors, survey platforms, or IRB and ethics-review partners.
  • Research experience related to AI-human interaction, digital well-being, youth development, or social and emotional uses of technology.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $207,000–$230,000 per year.
  • Equity and performance-related bonuses for eligible employees.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts.
  • Pre-tax FSA, dependent-care, commuter, and parking accounts.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
  • Paid parental, medical, and caregiver leave.
  • Paid time off, company holidays, office closures, and paid sick or safe time.
  • Mental health and wellness support.
  • Employer-paid basic life and disability coverage.
  • Annual learning and development stipend.
