Details

Bloomberg Product Oversight is seeking a Data Scientist to join its New York team. The team analyzes client workflows, data consumption, content licensing frameworks, and strategic initiatives to identify business and product opportunities. The role will use data analytics, business intelligence, machine learning, operational dashboards, KPIs, and project management tools to improve service and optimize efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end machine learning models to answer targeted business questions and drive change.
  • Perform large-scale data analysis and manipulation to extract insights and influence business decisions.
  • Organize and analyze data to identify historical patterns and improve workflows.
  • Partner with analysts on department-wide initiatives.
  • Research, develop, and implement methods for extracting relevant data from varied sources.
  • Collaborate with business colleagues to understand their domains.
  • Design, prototype, and implement technical solutions using proprietary, third-party, and open-source technologies.
  • Provide design recommendations, identify data sources, and gather, cleanse, model, and test data.
  • Present data analysis and recommendations from a client-impact perspective.
  • Manage multiple projects and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of data science or machine learning experience.
  • Strong foundational programming skills, with deep expertise in Python and SQL.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, and optimized code for data processing, analysis, and model deployment.
  • Hands-on experience building end-to-end machine learning models and applying post-deployment best practices.
  • Ability to assimilate, decipher, and present data analysis from a client-impact perspective.
  • Proven project and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, handle ambiguity, and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Client services experience within the technology or financial industry.
  • Strong knowledge of supervised and unsupervised anomaly detection algorithms.
  • Experience with big data tools and infrastructure such as Hadoop and Spark.
