Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform that enables businesses to accept payments, grow revenue, and launch new business opportunities.

Commerce Systems provides a central entry point for Stripe teams to monetize products in global markets. The organization builds platforms and services to define and manage pricing, calculate and collect Stripe revenue, and help Stripe and its users understand and manage revenue and costs. Its work includes customer-facing experiences, internal platforms, and data pipelines supporting Accounting, Finance, Strategy, Sales, and Stripe’s products.

The role will lead a team within the Commerce Systems organization. Key goals include increasing the self-service capabilities of the billing platform, launching pricing and monetization capabilities, ensuring rigorous and predictable billing outcomes, and enabling Finance, Strategy, and Accounting partners to understand Stripe’s business performance.

Responsibilities

• Understand the team’s core mission and responsibilities, and set strategies and priorities across monetizing new products, enabling self-service and improved developer experience, and strengthening technical foundations and operational excellence.
• Lead engineering and design processes while coaching, mentoring, and supporting the team as it builds innovative solutions.
• Develop strong relationships with leaders and organizations across product, engineering, sales, finance, strategy, accounting, tax, and compliance.
• Build a healthy team and a strong leadership bench by supporting team members’ growth and hiring internally and externally.
• Work effectively across a geographically distributed organization and multiple time zones.

Requirements

• 10+ years of total engineering experience, including at least 4 years of management experience.
• Experience leading high-complexity teams of 8 or more engineers across multiple high-impact areas.
• Experience thriving in cross-functional environments with rigorous thinking and effective decision-making.
• Experience recruiting, mentoring, and building high-performing, inclusive teams.
• Ability to operate autonomously, take ownership of projects, and drive initiatives that contribute to organizational success.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with geographically distributed teams across time zones.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and persuasively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or improving platforms that empower developers, with a focus on self-service and extensibility.
• Domain knowledge in payments, billing, or financial technology.
