Details

The Trusted Agentic Development team is part of GitLab's Developer Experience group and builds platforms that GitLab engineers rely on to validate AI-generated software with confidence. The team focuses on making validation fast, automatic, and trustworthy when software is authored by AI agents.

The role involves defining trusted validation for agent-generated code, providing mid-loop feedback that helps agents self-correct, supporting language-aware approaches across Rust, Ruby, and Go, and measuring whether engineers trust and adopt the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow the team by hiring and developing engineers who practice agentic development.
  • Create a culture that treats trusted agentic development as an open problem to solve rather than a process to enforce.
  • Set direction in an undefined space and shape the technical approach for validating agent-built software.
  • Focus the team on the highest-impact version of the problem.
  • Drive adoption by partnering with engineering teams across GitLab and building a platform that makes engineers faster and more confident.
  • Measure engineer adoption and trust through real usage, using adopters as design partners.
  • Use findings to prioritize where confidence is breaking down.
  • Engage in architecture and design discussions, review proposals, and maintain current technical judgment as agentic development evolves.
  • Run the team with clear goals, direct feedback, honest performance management, and ownership of complex work from planning through completion.

Requirements

  • Direct experience using AI agents to build software, including experience with successes and missteps and a clear perspective on why a passing test suite is not necessarily equivalent to working software.
  • Experience leading engineering teams through ambiguous, early-stage problems where the right approach was not yet known.
  • Ability to drive adoption through influence and a useful product rather than mandate, including partnership across teams.
  • Technical depth to participate credibly in architecture and validation strategy discussions and earn the trust of senior engineers.
  • Experience building accountable, high-performing teams, including hiring, developing team members, and addressing underperformance directly.
  • Strong written communication skills in an all-remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Alignment with GitLab's values, especially collaboration, iteration, and transparency.

This is not a quality assurance or test automation management role; the focus is on leading teams that build with AI agents.

Benefits

  • Benefits supporting health, finances, and well-being.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Team member resource groups.
  • Equity compensation and employee stock purchase plan.
  • Growth and development fund.
  • Parental leave.

Compensation

The Poland base salary range is 296,000 PLN to 444,000 PLN per year. The range does not include bonuses, equity, or benefits.
