Join Eneco's purpose-driven team and use your data engineering expertise to accelerate its mission to become the first CO₂-neutral energy company by 2035. You will work with cloud technologies and diverse data sources, including smart meters and wind turbines, to build scalable data solutions for IoT products such as smart thermostats, energy insights, and smart charging.

Responsibilities

  • Set up projects and lead technical decisions involving real-time time-series data in Databricks and Scala environments.
  • Set up and lead technical decisions for Eneco's cloud-based data platform.
  • Maintain API servers and develop streaming and batch data-processing pipelines.
  • Empower other departments by making data accessible and usable.
  • Design and implement cloud solutions to meet product requirements.
  • Provide technical advice to product managers and other teams.
  • Ensure solutions are robust, scalable, cost-efficient, and prepared for future challenges.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and Data Analysts to shape IoT products.

Requirements

Must Have

  • Previous experience with REST API development, such as Spring or FastAPI.
  • Understanding of streaming data ingestion and processing.
  • Experience with MPP data platforms such as Spark.
  • Proficiency in Java, Scala, and Python.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including code reviews, version control, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Genuine interest in DevOps and SRE principles for production deployment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog.
  • Experience working with high-volume time-series data.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and architecture patterns.
  • Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes.
  • Monitoring and debugging skills with Grafana.
  • Knowledge of cloud providers such as AWS.
  • Infrastructure as code experience.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency in SQL and dbt with Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with or interest in MLOps and data science techniques.

  • Gross annual salary between €83,000 and €117,000, including FlexBudget, 8% holiday allowance, and depending on the role, a bonus or collective profit sharing.
