About the Role

Developer experience at Sentry spans the integration and developer platform, documentation, community, and developer relations. The DevEx team is responsible for how developers first encounter Sentry, learn to use it, and build on top of it—from SDK configuration documentation to the Discord community and integrations ecosystem.

This role owns all of these areas. The Head of Developer Experience will sit in Marketing, partner closely with EPD, and influence both the integration platform product surface and the team responsible for developer education, documentation, and community.

Responsibilities

• Own strategy and execution for Sentry's integration ecosystem and developer platform APIs, working closely with EPD to define the developer-facing surface and ensure that building on Sentry is a good experience.
• Lead the documentation function across SDK configuration documentation, API reference, and tutorials.
• Connect documentation to the product experience through logged-in state, contextual guidance, health checks, and in-context adoption-gap identification, in partnership with EPD and the Docs platform team.
• Own Sentry's developer community across Discord, social media, and events.
• Build the team and processes that turn community engagement into measurable outcomes, including signups, adoption, and support deflection.
• Build and deliver content and education programs, including workshops, deep dives, and fireside chats, covering tracing, debugging, and Sentry's full product surface.
• Build relationships with builders, toolmakers, and platform partners who extend Sentry's reach.

Requirements

• Shipped code and the ability to identify incorrect code samples without running them.
• Experience owning a product surface rather than only producing content about it.
• Experience building or scaling a developer community and demonstrating measurable impact.
• A product-oriented approach to documentation, with strong opinions about documentation quality and the ability to hold a team to that standard.
• Ability to operate with ambiguity, reset scope, prioritize independently, and avoid unnecessary complexity.
• 7+ years of experience in developer relations, developer experience, or a closely related technical role.
• At least 3 years of people-management experience.
• Experience owning or deeply influencing a developer platform, integration ecosystem, or SDK surface.
• A track record of building developer communities that drive measurable product outcomes.
• Strong technical writing instincts and demonstrated experience improving documentation quality.
• Experience in observability, monitoring, or developer tooling is a plus.

Benefits

The base salary range is $220,000–$300,000 per year. Actual base salary will depend on factors including work location, education, experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. The role is eligible for employee benefit plans, including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.
