The Security Team secures Sentry's customers, code, and infrastructure. This role focuses on detection and response as well as corporate security, including alert triage, detection engineering, preventative controls, identity and access management, investigations, and incident response. You will partner with teams across the company to prevent and respond to security incidents, prioritizing preventative controls, defense in depth, and high-signal alerting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, improve, and own detection engineering systems, including Sentry's detection stack and agentic triage, security response, and orchestration automation.
  • Perform investigations and contribute to security incident response across a range of incident types affecting Sentry and its customers.
  • Contribute to, maintain, and operate identity and access management systems.
  • Work across adjacent security domains, including application security, infrastructure security, governance, and privacy.
  • Research, identify, and respond to emerging threats relevant to Sentry's application and cloud environment, including threats related to agentic product features and AI-assisted engineering practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with a fast-moving engineering organization and influence security practices through technical expertise.
  • Build scalable, systematic, and automated solutions to security problems.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of industry experience in detection and response, corporate security, or generalist security engineering.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field, equivalent training, or professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience with several of the following: alert triage, detection tuning and writing, detection-as-code, security log ingestion, security investigations and incident response, identity and access management, phishing response, user access reviews, and endpoint detection and response tooling.
  • Programming experience in at least one language; Python is preferred.
  • Comfort using agentic development workflows.
  • Familiarity with distributed cloud technologies such as AWS, CI/CD, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
  • Experience with corporate security tools such as SSO, SAML, and IAM, and defensive security tooling such as EDR, SIEM, CNAPP, and ZTNA.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
