Details
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Its Professional Services team works with strategic users on high-visibility projects, providing technical expertise to accelerate knowledge, refine solution design, and build robust integrations with Stripe.
The Integration Engineer will own the technical relationship with strategic users from initial discovery through live integration and ongoing optimization. The role combines technical execution, integration engineering, debugging, and strategic advisory work.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute integration engineering end to end, from high-level architecture through code implementation.
- Conduct discovery sessions, analyze specific use cases, and guide users through complex integrations.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for users' and partners' technical teams.
- Resolve integration issues and own escalations for operational issues and priority requests.
- Lead strategic technical conversations, explaining Stripe's product features and API architecture.
- Manage user expectations regarding timelines and product changes.
- Collaborate with Sales, Solution Architecture, and Implementation teams to support user engagement and Professional Services outcomes.
- Work with Product and Engineering to surface potential enhancements and new features based on field feedback.
- Provide technical support and debugging by inspecting the Stripe codebase, testing functionality, building proof-of-concept integrations, creating user-specific test plans, and answering technical questions.
- Lead hands-on implementations when required, including providing feedback on coding practices, CI/CD, and software architecture.
- Review and optimize existing user integrations to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Build tools and analytics, including dashboards, queries, and custom data reports, to support business reviews and operational needs.
- Develop reusable processes and shared knowledge for the broader Professional Services team.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in software engineering or integration engineering.
- Ability to write and debug code in languages such as Go, Java, C/C++, or similar.
- Experience with code-level debugging of both Stripe and user code.
- Strong generalist technical background, including proficiency in SQL and a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Understanding of the payments domain and API security principles.
- Ability to lead technical conversations and clearly explain Stripe's product features and API architecture.
- User-first mindset with the ability to map business requirements to reliable technical solutions.
- Confidence engaging with users and leading strategic technical discussions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as solutions engineering, technical consulting, or implementation engineering.
- Experience mentoring engineers or guiding technical teams through complex implementations.
- Ability to apply structured methodologies to ensure consistency and repeatability across engagements.
- Strong technical writing skills, including documenting complex integration guidance and processes.
- Experience navigating and resolving ambiguous, open-ended technical problems independently and collaboratively.
