Details

Are you curious how a large organization like ING manages its data and ensures customer information is handled safely? During this internship, you will work on real data governance challenges and help colleagues across the organization improve how they use and protect data.

The team

You will join the Safe Data Team, where data governance specialists ensure ING complies with regulations on data usage and protection. The team develops standards and processes (such as data management and record retention standards) and supports colleagues across ING. Data Stewards play a key role in creating safe data for our customers and ING, and you will work closely with them.

During this internship you will learn

  • How data governance works in a large international bank
  • How regulations (like GDPR and BCBS239) are translated into practical processes and instructions
  • How to work with stakeholders across different teams
  • How to communicate and engage people in a community setting
  • How to improve the expertise of ING NL’s Data Stewards

Responsibilities

  • Set up and grow a community for Data Stewards
  • Organise and structure how this community works and collaborates
  • Create awareness about the Data Steward roles and responsibilities
  • Find ways to share actionable insights from the existing dashboards in the community
  • Train and support Data Stewards in using the dashboards
  • Design and execute a plan to improve the expertise of ING NL’s Data Stewards via the community

Requirements / How to succeed

  • You are currently studying (HBO/WO), for example: Business Administration, Economics, Data Science / Business Analytics, Communication, Law (privacy/data) or a related field
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with different stakeholders
  • Analytical and comfortable working with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Interest in data, governance, and how organisations manage information
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic and complex environment; like taking initiative and getting people engaged
