Details

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Risk team builds products and infrastructure that support Stripe businesses, product teams, regulators, and financial partners. The Technical Program Manager team delivers cross-Stripe programs that help businesses grow on Stripe, enable products to launch safely at scale, and maintain Stripe's position as a trusted financial network.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Technical Program Managers and Program Managers delivering Stripe's most complex, cross-cutting, and critical programs.
  • Hire, coach, and develop a team of TPMs while supporting their career growth.
  • Act as a Technical Program Manager on complex initiatives requiring hands-on leadership.
  • Build, lead, and manage high-performing teams, managers, and individuals across multiple locations, including performance reviews, ongoing feedback, and career development.
  • Define and deliver long-term vision and multi-year strategy for company-wide programs in collaboration with product management and engineering leadership and executives.
  • Define success criteria and delivery plans, track risks, and ensure successful execution of Risk's most complex programs.
  • Improve communication and operating practices to increase team productivity and efficiency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of management experience at varying levels of seniority, including managing managers.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or technical product or program management.
  • Extensive experience finding and developing talent through coaching, mentoring, and career development conversations.
  • Experience driving technical programs from ideation through large-scale delivery and leading teams of Technical Program Managers.
  • Experience operating autonomously and leading across multiple teams, with stakeholders from different disciplines and time zones.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and thought leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comfortable working with geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience managing teams that designed and operated critical infrastructure.
  • Empathy for customer needs combined with a visionary approach to product and program delivery.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with teammates across the organization.
  • Previous experience as an engineer or in a similar technical role.
