Member of Technical Staff - Real-Time Storage

SpaceXAI is seeking exceptional storage and database engineers to build a new storage tier that deeply integrates its advanced AI infrastructure into a platform used by approximately 600 million users each month. The storage tier will support training, inference, recommendations, and real-time data extraction.

The team operates an exabyte-scale S3-compatible object store, a multi-tenant transactional key/value store serving hundreds of millions of requests per second, a caching tier serving billions of requests per second, a scalable vector database for recommendation systems, and other specialized databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and launch production features and improvements that unify common components across storage systems.
• Investigate performance issues and work with customers to deliver solutions addressing latency, availability, and data durability requirements.
• Lead and drive incident response and recovery with peers.
• Review and contribute to incident postmortems while maintaining a high quality standard.
• Collaborate with teammates and mentor peers through code and design reviews.
• Develop new skills and learn on the job while working in new technology areas.
• Ground decisions in data and reasoning, and adapt to new information.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of software development experience.
• At least 2 years of experience building storage systems or databases.
• Strong focus on reliability, performance, and quality.
• Proficiency in high-performance C++, Rust, or JVM-based languages.
• Expertise in building, running, and operating scalable and resilient distributed systems.
• Strong communication, prioritization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
