Booking.com is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join its Central Technology team in the Netherlands. The role focuses on the reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence of AWS public cloud network and security infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliability, security, and availability of Booking.com's public cloud network infrastructure.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve large-scale network infrastructure spanning multiple public cloud vendors and regions.
  • Automate network provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring through scripting and tooling, preferably Python and Terraform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot networking solutions supporting public cloud environments.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, proactively address issues, and minimize downtime.
  • Work with multi-vendor environments, coordinating incident management and resolution.
  • Engage with vendors and partners for network support and escalations when necessary.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of networking, including routing and switching, BGP, and the TCP/IP stack.
  • Solid hands-on experience with AWS network resources, including Transit Gateways, VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, Gateway Load Balancers, VPNs, and Direct Connects.
  • Solid experience in network security, deployment, and network management of firewalls in public cloud environments such as AWS, preferably Palo Alto.
  • At least 3 years of experience in network automation using programming languages and tools such as Python and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with multi-vendor network environments and associated challenges.
  • Familiarity with Internet architectures, Internet security, RPKI, IRR, and peering at global exchange points.
  • Demonstrated skills in incident response and vendor management.
