Details
Senior UX Writers are craft experts who are fiercely user-focused and deliver high-quality work across languages. They guide and influence other writers, improve the quality of the writing community, and consider the complete user experience beyond copy. The role involves influencing product and track strategy, contributing to strategic initiatives, solving product challenges, troubleshooting tooling and system issues, and supporting community projects. Senior UX Writers champion craft guidelines and Booking.com's global Tone of Voice.
Responsibilities
- Work beyond a team-level remit by applying problem-solving, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate complex challenges.
- Shape customer-focused strategies and influence stakeholders across teams, using marketing and branding expertise. Experience with loyalty programmes is a plus.
- Identify and address copy challenges affecting user experiences, define quality and key metrics, and transform insights into measurable ideas while considering copy tools, processes, scalability, and technical implementation for translations.
- Lead larger track initiatives addressing usability issues and copy inconsistencies, taking the technical and business impact into account.
- Safeguard Booking.com's voice using Tone of Voice guidelines, craft guardrails, and inclusivity and accessibility principles.
- Identify and drive the creation of new guidelines when needed.
- Create testing plans, value propositions, and improved approaches to processes or implementations that enhance existing and future systems and solutions.
- Collect and interpret data using Booking.com's data systems to inform product and UX decisions.
- Contribute to product vision and roadmaps, assess longer-term needs, and map current work against them.
- Promote the copy domain across the business unit to support a consistent user experience.
- Participate in recruiting and initiatives that grow and strengthen the craft community, including interviewing and onboarding.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5–8 years of relevant professional experience; a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working within development is required.
- Exceptional writing skills and experience writing copy for all devices and platforms.
- Native-level fluency in English.
- Ability to create messaging strategies and identify new copy opportunities.
- Ability to prioritize, make difficult decisions, work independently and collaboratively, and solve challenging problems.
- Technical aptitude, including the ability to quickly learn new tooling and interpret data.
- Experience working in an environment that uses extensive A/B testing.
- Experience as a UX Copywriter in ecommerce or with data-driven product teams is required.
- Experience managing or coaching others is preferred.
Contract Details
- Independent contractor position.
- 40 hours per week.
- Four-month timeline: September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026.
- Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.
- Pay rate: €60–€105 per hour.
