Details

This independent contractor role will lead the change portfolio and strategy for Booking.com's Traveler Privacy Program (TPP). The program aims to make traveler data safer, better governed, and easier to use responsibly, reducing privacy risk while supporting AI and the Connected Trip strategy.

The role will provide immediate structure to the program's change efforts and work closely with the Portfolio Group Technical Program Manager and Data Leadership. The focus is on accelerating delivery through practical change management rather than creating administrative bottlenecks.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own the end-to-end change and communications roadmap for the Traveler Privacy portfolio, aligning program milestones, business readiness, and adoption needs.
  • Establish and embed enterprise data governance and privacy capabilities to make traveler data management more automated, sustainable, and scalable.
  • Drive adoption and coordination across privacy controls, consent foundations, raw events migration, tracking technology remediation, retention and deletion, and related process changes.
  • Run the change governance process and act as a trusted advisor to program leadership, project leads, and senior stakeholders.
  • Influence senior leaders to sponsor change, surface risks early, and drive clear decisions across a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Translate project-level inputs into coordinated change and communications plans covering milestones, audiences, dependencies, engagement needs, and change risks.
  • Work across Central Tech, Marketplace, Accommodations, Trips, Marketing, Privacy, Legal & Public Affairs, Data & AI Governance, and platform teams to align impacts, sequencing, and required interventions.
  • Implement appropriately scaled change management methodologies that provide rigor and visibility without becoming overly process-driven.
  • Turn complex privacy, data, and platform topics into clear narratives explaining what is changing, why it matters, and what is required from impacted teams.
  • Identify stakeholder overlap, adoption risks, readiness gaps, and delivery dependencies, and translate them into practical mitigation actions.
  • Guide communication, engagement, and readiness planning across the program.
  • Help determine the required level of change support as the program moves into broader implementation and adoption.
  • Plan a sustainable transition from program delivery into business-as-usual operations through a scalable handover with accountable teams.
  • Strengthen governance and reporting for privacy risk, progress, dependencies, and decisions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of change management experience, including leadership of large-scale, cross-functional transformation programs with complex stakeholder landscapes.
  • Proven ability to quickly provide structure in complex and ambiguous environments, with a strong bias for action and tangible outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of data-, platform-, or technology-led change, including governance, controls, system dependencies, and operational adoption.
  • Excellent ability to distill complex strategic and technical content into simple, actionable messaging for different stakeholder groups.
  • Comfortable using program data, milestones, risks, and readiness insights to guide decisions and track change progress.
  • Ability to navigate shifting scope, incomplete information, evolving solution design, and slow or difficult decision-making environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in privacy, risk, data management, data governance, and regulatory change programs.
  • Relevant certifications or frameworks, such as CIPP/E, ISACA, CDPSE, DAMA, or DM-BOK.
  • Experience shaping integrated change and communications plans across multiple project teams.
  • Familiarity with Prosci, ADKAR, or similar change management frameworks.
