Details

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.” This is a 12-week internship during summer 2027. As a Product Design Intern, you will be embedded on a product team solving real design problems across Coinbase’s core products, including the Coinbase app, Prime, and Coinbase Wallet. You will work with researchers, designers, product managers, and engineers to turn product ideas into tangible user experiences and contribute to design challenges that help millions of people engage with the crypto economy.

Responsibilities

Own a product design project end-to-end, translating a product concept into a polished user experience across mobile and/or web platforms with coaching from an intern manager.
Partner with product teams and cross-functional stakeholders to define user needs, explore solutions, and validate design directions.
Lead presentations of your work in group design critiques and incorporate feedback to strengthen your solutions.
Build high-fidelity prototypes in Figma to socialize design concepts and collaborate closely with engineering on implementation.
Collaborate with engineers to build and ship pull requests using AI-assisted coding tools, translating designs into production-ready front-end changes.
Apply human-centered design methods and structured problem-solving frameworks to navigate complex, ambiguous product challenges.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to use design tools such as Figma and Cursor to create user flows, wireframes, or visual designs, evidenced by a portfolio or project samples.
At least one completed design project—academic, personal, or professional—showing end-to-end thinking from problem definition through visual execution.
Basic familiarity with cryptocurrency concepts and Coinbase’s role in the ecosystem, along with demonstrated curiosity to learn more.
Responsible use of generative AI, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
