Senior Product Designer, Platform

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.” The Platform Design and Research team designs core platforms and internal tools that accelerate product development and operations across Coinbase.

This role joins the Infrastructure pillar and partners closely with engineering leadership to improve internal tools and dashboards, including configuration and deployment tooling, observability systems, and operational dashboards. The Senior Product Designer will independently define ambiguous problem spaces for engineer-facing tools, use research and usage data to shape product roadmaps, and lead design from discovery through launch.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to product and design strategy for Coinbase’s infrastructure tools.
• Design high-quality user interfaces and interaction patterns for data-intensive, workflow-heavy enterprise tools, including visual workflow builders, configuration management systems, and real-time dashboards.
• Own end-to-end design for the development release pipeline, giving engineers visibility into where their code sits on the path to production.
• Design the Engineering Standards Scorecard, turning more than 100 standards covering reliability, security, and paved-path adoption into a clear view for individual contributors, directors, and vice presidents.
• Run iterative design cycles by ideating, prototyping, testing with internal users, and refining designs based on qualitative feedback and operational data.
• Partner with engineering leadership and standards owners across Coinbase to define a shared service-catalog data model and ingestion approach.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional product design experience, including ownership of end-to-end flows from discovery through launch.
• Experience designing enterprise solutions for complex workflows, ideally for both technical and non-technical users.
• Excellence in UX thinking and systems design, with the ability to influence product strategy and roadmaps in partnership with Product and Engineering.
• Strong visual design, interaction design, and prototyping skills with sharp attention to detail.
• Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management experience.
• Experience designing technical, engineer-facing, or data-heavy systems, such as internal tools, developer platforms, or governance and compliance tooling.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
• Fluency in Figma and modern prototyping tools, including AI tools for exploration, prototyping, or faster delivery.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

The annual base salary range is $180,370–$212,200 USD, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
