About the Role

Design at Anthropic sits at the intersection of craft, research, and product intuition. The design team works on products used by millions of people and on interactions that do not yet have established conventions.

The role shapes how people experience AI by designing products that build trust and feel native to AI. Designers partner closely with engineers and researchers, stay close to emerging model capabilities, prototype rapidly, and work comfortably in ambiguous environments.

The team values polished, trustworthy experiences while shipping quickly and learning in the open. The ideal candidate ships quickly, questions fundamental UI assumptions, invents patterns for AI products, and uses tools such as Claude Code to extend what they can build. They should care about pixels, copy, edge cases, and the direction of model capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, AI researchers, and other stakeholders to define product vision, strategy, and roadmaps, and actively participate in shipping.
• Understand the technical architecture of products and define primitives for new capabilities.
• Define feature areas with exceptional attention to detail and polish, identifying opportunities to improve the quality and consistency of broader flows.
• Craft polished and delightful user interfaces that build trust and showcase the capabilities of AI technology.
• Work comfortably in code, design, and prototypes while learning new ways to communicate ideas and concepts.
• Find creative ways to ship high-quality work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and resource-constrained startup environment.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience designing and shipping complex workflows, enterprise or B2B SaaS products, developer tools, or API products end-to-end.
• A proven track record of executing end-to-end on large and complex products, or a series of products, in ambiguous environments.
• A portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking and polished UI craftsmanship.
• Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code as a creative partner in a design practice.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence without authority.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience prototyping with front-end code such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Passion for crafting scaled, highly impactful, safe, and beneficial artificial intelligence technologies that enable new possibilities.

Compensation

The annual salary range is $305,000–$385,000 USD.

Logistics

• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Required field of study: A field relevant to the role, as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
• Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job-level requirements for the position.
• Location-based hybrid policy: Staff are expected to work from one of the company’s offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.
• Visa sponsorship is available, although sponsorship cannot be guaranteed for every role and candidate. Anthropic retains an immigration lawyer to assist with the process.
