Details

ClickHouse's Core Engineering team works on the ClickHouse open-source project and collaborates across engineering and product teams to develop and expand the ClickHouse Cloud service. This role focuses on improving the efficiency and quality of ClickHouse's open-source and cloud offerings, including automation of critical operational functions that ensure ClickHouse Cloud operates smoothly worldwide and at scale. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills and a background in release engineering.

Responsibilities

Build and enhance test automation frameworks and develop automated test cases.
Try out new features and ensure they land smoothly in production.
Test cross-functional implementations across internal ClickHouse teams.
Implement new testing strategies and automation for large and complex distributed systems.
Evaluate new ClickHouse functionality for each release and identify opportunities to improve the existing codebase.
Engineer and improve existing testing infrastructure.

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of SQL.
Previous experience in a similar SDET, release engineering, or QA role related to a classical database or distributed system.
Hands-on experience with a programming language such as Python, Go, or C++.
Ability to read C++ code for validation.
Working knowledge of Git, Linux, and shell scripting.
Experience with both manual and automated testing.
Ability to work collaboratively, including with remote teams, and learn complex technology quickly in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within and across engineering teams.
Strong problem-solving and production debugging skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and partner with the business to move the company forward.

Compensation

The typical starting salary in the United States is $141,000–$208,000 USD per year. In US premium markets, the typical starting salary is $157,000–$230,000 USD per year. Premium market ranges may apply in locations such as the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area. Actual compensation depends on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs.
