Details

Anthropic is seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to join its Finance Systems team. Building on the recent Workday Financials go-live, this role serves as the internal functional lead for Workday Business Assets and Lease Management. The role owns the design and configuration of systems and processes governing the full lifecycle of Anthropic's assets and leases, including compute and data center infrastructure and the global real estate portfolio.

The position combines finance domain expertise with technical implementation. It involves partnering with implementation partners, engineering teams, and finance stakeholders to build an asset and lease management foundation in Workday that supports capitalization, depreciation, lease accounting under ASC 842, and financial reporting as Anthropic scales toward public company readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Own Workday Business Assets configuration, including asset books, asset classes, useful lives, depreciation profiles, capitalization rules, and construction-in-progress tracking.
  • Drive design decisions, validate configurations, and ensure business requirements are met.
  • Own end-to-end lease administration and lease accounting across Workday and dedicated lease management platforms for real estate and infrastructure or compute leases.
  • Manage lease classification, right-of-use assets and lease liabilities, amortization schedules, modifications, remeasurements, and ASC 842 disclosure reporting.
  • Partner with Compute, Data Infrastructure, Procurement, Accounting, and other stakeholders to manage technology infrastructure assets from procurement through capitalization, transfers, and retirement.
  • Design componentization, tagging, and tracking approaches for data center and compute hardware at scale, with asset records structured to meet international, statutory, regulatory, and cross-border compliance requirements.
  • Support the broader Workday Financials platform, including FDM alignment, worktags, account posting rules, and dimensional hierarchies for asset and lease transactions.
  • Partner with consultants on future-phase and net-new implementations affecting assets and leases.
  • Build and maintain asset rollforwards, depreciation forecasts, lease disclosure schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities for fixed assets and leases, managing defects and data-quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Integrations, Security, and Financials configuration teams to align master data, journals, controls, and performance service-level agreements.
  • Partner with Real Estate & Workplace, Legal, FP&A, and Tax on the lease pipeline and capital planning.
  • Work with engineering teams and business stakeholders to expand adoption of the Workday platform, including biannual releases, process improvement, and automation across the asset and lease lifecycle.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in finance systems, ERP implementation, or business systems analysis, including at least 5 years of hands-on Workday Financials experience.
  • Experience with Workday Business Assets, lease management, inventory, or asset management software.
  • Deep expertise in Workday Business Assets configuration, including asset books, depreciation methods, capitalization thresholds, CIP tracking, mass asset transactions, transfers, and disposals.
  • Hands-on experience with lease accounting under ASC 842 in platforms such as CoStar, FinQuery/LeaseQuery, or Visual Lease.
  • Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting, including capitalization policies, useful-life determination, impairment assessment, and asset-level reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Understanding of SOX and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing high-value technology infrastructure assets, including data centers, compute hardware, and networking equipment, and understanding the operational realities of tracking physical assets at scale.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions and bridge finance stakeholders with technical implementation teams.
  • Experience across full ERP implementation lifecycles, including requirements gathering, configuration, testing, data migration, cutover planning, and hypercare.
  • Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-growth environments with evolving requirements and tight timelines.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • CPA certification or a strong accounting or finance background, with knowledge of GAAP/IFRS reporting requirements, including IFRS 16 lease accounting.
  • Experience with lease portfolios in FinQuery/LeaseQuery, Visual Lease, or CoStar.
  • Experience assessing embedded leases within cloud, hosting, and service contracts under ASC 842.
  • Experience with Workday FDM design, Prism Analytics, or Accounting Center for asset and lease journal automation.
  • Technical familiarity with Claude suite, SQL, Workday WQL/RaaS reporting, BigQuery, Workday Studio/Core Connector, and Python.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls for fixed asset and lease accounting cycles.
  • Familiarity with Workday Procurement and Supply Chain, including purchase-order-to-asset flows and supplier invoice integration points.
  • Prior experience at high-growth technology companies scaling toward IPO readiness, ideally with significant capital expenditure programs.
