Details

Airbnb's Communication and Connectivity team builds tools used by millions of guests and hosts, including messaging, push notifications, operating system integrations, host connectivity features, and a platform for connecting third-party partners with Airbnb. This role focuses on machine learning, data, and AI applications.

Responsibilities

Drive alignment across engineering, product, and leadership on AI investment priorities and set the multi-year technical roadmap.
Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to take high-impact machine learning initiatives from concept to production.
Ensure high-quality, efficient data pipelines that support both business and AI needs.
Define and own success metrics that tie machine learning work directly to business outcomes.
Lead and mentor a senior team of managers and engineers across Machine Learning, Data Engineering, and Software Engineering.
Partner with senior leadership across Engineering, Data Science, Product, and the business to align stakeholders, define multi-year roadmaps, and execute iterative milestones.
Coach and develop team members, supporting their career growth, technical expertise, and collaboration skills.

Requirements

12+ years of overall engineering experience, including 5+ years managing a team in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience building, leading, and architecting full-stack products and systems at enterprise scale with significant impact.
Experience applying modern artificial intelligence technologies to products and development cycles.
Hands-on technical leadership experience, including leading project teams, setting technical direction and strategy, and working cross-functionally with Product and Data Science teams.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working across teams and organizations on technical initiatives.

Location

Remote position eligible within the United States.
The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager.
Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $248,000–$310,000 USD per year.
May be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
