This role focuses on digital accessibility and inclusive services to create more accessible travel. Senior Researchers conduct research end-to-end for high-impact initiatives, leading stakeholders toward effective collaboration and informed decisions.

They initiate research efforts that serve track or business-unit goals over the medium and long term. Senior Researchers formulate study programmes and cumulative knowledge-sharing activities relevant to strategic team and track objectives. They lead projects involving other insight functions and stakeholders, assess the advantages and disadvantages of different research methodologies, and mentor others in using techniques and tools for high-quality execution.

Responsibilities

Research Skills

  • Evaluate research opportunities, particularly ambiguous requests, by determining their importance, urgency, and potential impact.
  • Manage, challenge, and shape inbound research requests, and propose well-founded research projects or programmes.
  • Execute research projects with existing skills while exploring alternative methods, mixed methods, and innovative approaches.
  • Apply a deep understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods to direct projects toward appropriate methodologies.
  • Develop expertise in a domain, user type, or research method and serve as a go-to person for the research team.
  • Triangulate findings, methods, and theories within projects to ensure reliability and depth of insight.
  • Maximize the value and efficiency of research through secondary research and expert inspection methods.
  • Use relevant research tools and select appropriate software for activities such as surveys, diary studies, and analysis.
  • Apply solid knowledge of GDPR, data compliance, and research ethics to all activities.

  • Identify opportunities within the business area to develop deep knowledge with long-term value.
  • Integrate research insights into core strategic decisions and team or track frameworks.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of the competitive environment to provide differentiation or other advantages.

  • Drive cross-disciplinary and cross-departmental collaboration through research insights and activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with researchers and other disciplines with a clear commitment to shared ownership.
  • Communicate excellently using a style tailored to different audiences; communicate concisely, clearly, and openly receive input and feedback.
  • Contribute to the communication and implementation of agreed research-excellence standards across the organization.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a field focused on research with human subjects, such as HCI, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or Sociology, or a similar background.
  • Expertise in a domain, research method, or user type.
  • Understanding of different research methods.
  • Familiarity with survey design and advanced statistical analysis, including regression models and statistical testing.

Contract Details

  • Independent contractor position.
  • Location: Amsterdam, NH.
  • Workload: 40 hours per week.
  • Timeline: October 13, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
  • Pay rate: €60–€130 per hour.
