The Financial Systems team provides technology expertise to the finance department and is responsible for SAP, HANA, and connected third-party systems at Booking.com.

The team is developing a finance application platform that simplifies business processes and provides the finance community with improved financial insights. The SAP environment runs on HANA, with a Simple Finance migration completed in 2016 and an S/4HANA financial transformation initiated in 2021.

As a Senior SAP FI Specialist, you will design solutions for new initiatives, optimize SAP functionality, configure and modify existing functionality, and transform current-state processes. You will use your SAP FICO and FICA expertise to design solutions aligned with business objectives. The role includes solution and functional design documentation, configuration rationale, testing, deployment, stakeholder collaboration, and day-to-day support.

The role involves extensive interaction with functional specialists and developers across finance and IT departments. Strong knowledge of finance processes, legacy-system integration, and English communication and presentation skills is required.

Responsibilities

• Train key users and provide key-user support.

• Provide day-to-day support and incident resolution.
• Lead Explore-phase workshops for global rollouts and define enterprise standards.
• Design and deliver solutions integrating SAP FICO, FICA, Controlling, payments, and tax processes.

Requirements

• Deep, hands-on experience designing and setting up global SAP Finance templates, including enterprise structures and global organizational setups.
• Expert configuration experience with controlling areas, operating concerns, company codes, charts of accounts, ledgers, currencies, segments, fiscal years, posting-period variants, cost-center and profit-center hierarchies, internal order types, account groups, charts of depreciation, depreciation areas, and asset classes.
• Direct hands-on experience with SAP RISE Private Cloud Edition, including Explore-phase workshops and detailed knowledge of RISE product offerings.
• At least one full-cycle SAP FICA or BRIM / Convergent Invoicing implementation, either greenfield or brownfield.
• Strong understanding of high-volume billing-data flows from digital interfaces into the General Ledger.
• Deep expertise in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Asset Accounting.
• Hands-on configuration experience with Bank Communication Management and specialized intercompany accounting processes.
• Advanced knowledge of Controlling and Profitability Analysis for business insights and financial reporting.
• Proficiency mapping business processes across SAP ECC and S/4HANA.
• Excellent knowledge of integrating SAP FI with complex legacy systems and external digital interfaces.
• Understanding of data mapping across FI-GL, Business Partners, and payment gateways.
• Fluent English and experience managing senior stakeholders and delivering technical presentations to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple high-priority deliverables, understand the business impact of architectural decisions, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Contract Details

• Project duration: 1 year, from October 27, 2026, to October 26, 2027.
• Working hours: 40 hours per week.
• Independent contractor pay rate: EUR 10–38 per hour.
