Role overview
The security team secures all things Sentry β from customers to code and infrastructure. Sentry is hiring a Senior Security Engineer to work across application and platform security to harden the cloud-based application and Kubernetes platform. This role partners with engineering to mature Sentry's cloud platform security posture through security architecture, project-specific threat modeling, and occasional coding.
Responsibilities
- Lead high-impact initiatives from idea formulation through design and implementation to solve critical security challenges.
- Work on cross-company objectives to influence and achieve security goals.
- Research and evaluate new technologies to enhance security posture with scalability in mind.
- Identify potential threats and vulnerabilities in systems and data, and help develop and implement safeguards.
- Enable cross-functional teams to implement security solutions aligned with Secure-by-Design concepts and standards.
Requirements
- 6+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Strong fundamentals in computer science.
- Experience securing container-based environments and Kubernetes in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with their SDKs/APIs.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Comfortable programming in at least one language, with strong preference for Python, Go, or Rust; occasional hands-on coding is expected.
- Applied knowledge of cryptography, PKI, TLS, and practical implementations.
- Up-to-date understanding of the threat landscape as it pertains to SaaS companies.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with application, platform, and infrastructure engineers.

Benefits
- The base salary range Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is $180,000 to $280,000.
