Details
Sentry helps developers fix errors and performance issues before users notice. The Security Team is responsible for securing Sentry's customers, code, and infrastructure. As a Senior Security Engineer, you will work across application and platform security, shaping security reviews, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and secure coding practices across the engineering organization. You will partner with product and engineering teams and help address emerging security challenges related to agentic product capabilities and AI-assisted engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Own and mature Sentry's security review program, including secure code reviews, architecture reviews, and threat modeling.
- Build processes, tooling, and culture that integrate security into how Sentry ships and operates.
- Improve vulnerability management, including intake, triage, prioritization, remediation tracking, bug bounty, and responsible disclosure programs.
- Champion secure-by-design principles and integrate security tooling into developer and CI/CD workflows.
- Validate and reproduce application and infrastructure security findings through scanning and manual testing.
- Coordinate penetration testing and vulnerability validation across Sentry's applications, SDKs, and cloud-based platform.
- Evaluate and respond to emerging application security threats, including risks related to agentic product features, unfamiliar cloud primitives, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams and drive security initiatives end-to-end.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience designing, building, and securing complex applications and large-scale distributed cloud systems.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, equivalent training, or professional experience.
- Direct experience with security reviews, SDLC practices, secure CI/CD, architecture reviews, threat modeling, vulnerability management, bug bounty programs, and responsible disclosure programs.
- Programming experience in at least one language, with the ability to review Python, TypeScript, Go, and Rust applications.
- Familiarity with distributed cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform, as well as securing cloud networking and IAM.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
- An automation-first mindset and the ability to operate with ownership and autonomy on a small, high-trust team.
Compensation
The base salary range is €112,000–€146,000 gross per year. The legally required minimum wage for the position is €74,144 gross per year under the applicable IT collective agreement. Actual compensation depends on factors including work location, education, experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. The role is also eligible for applicable employee benefits, including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.
