Bloomberg Connects is a free platform that helps museums, galleries, and cultural spaces make their institutions, stories, and dynamic content more engaging to audiences around the world. The platform features multimedia guides with exclusive content from more than 1,500 cultural institution partners across 33 countries.
The Data and Platform Tools team builds and runs the services behind the platform's analytics, search, speech, computer vision, generative AI, and agentic systems. This role will own the infrastructure those services are built on.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate distributed services powering analytics, search, speech, computer vision, generative AI, and agentic systems.
- Build and maintain the infrastructure that runs AI features in production.
- Contribute to the agentic core platform and tooling used across engineering and other product disciplines.
- Own deployment, release, and delivery pipelines, raising the standard for how services are shipped.
- Make significant architectural decisions and distribute technical knowledge across the team.
- Partner with backend/API, mobile, and web engineering teams on shared interfaces and infrastructure.
- Participate in a cross-functional agile team spanning design and engineering.
- Design, build, and operate services throughout their full lifecycle, including architecture, deployment, operation, and evolution.
- Help establish infrastructure, deployment, and delivery patterns for services.
- Use AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices in daily work and help build internal platform and tooling.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and releasing high-quality software in Python, C++, C#, and/or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems and services in production.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native services.
- Experience with containerized workloads and orchestration.
- Experience setting technical direction and working independently.
- Experience with AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Composer, and Artifact Registry.
- Infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform.
- Designing and owning CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins.
- Experience building or operating LLM and agent systems in production, including evaluation frameworks.
- Experience with a compiled language such as Go, Rust, or C++.
- Search infrastructure and indexing pipelines.
- Vector embeddings, vector databases, and Retrieval Augmented Generation.
- Speech systems, including TTS/STT, or computer vision systems in production.
Benefits
Salary range: $160,000–$240,000 USD annually, plus benefits and bonus.
