Details
Anthropic’s Product Engineering org is looking for experienced engineers with strong full-stack fundamentals to join one of teams owning its current or emergent products. You’ll be a technical leader who thinks holistically about the consumer and/or enterprise end user experience—via Claude.ai, the Anthropic API, enterprise deployments, Claude Code, or mission-driven applications—and carry real end-to-end ownership.
You’ll partner with engineering managers, product leaders, designers, and researchers to understand new model capabilities and redefine what is possible for users in the world of LLMs—and how to build it. Anthropic is looking for a product-oriented mindset and ownership of technical quality across the stack (performance, accessibility, reliability, and developer experience), scaling efforts to millions of users on a global scale.
Team placement occurs after the interview process, taking into account your interests and experience alongside organizational needs.
Responsibilities
Developer Experience
- Build products and tools—console, SDKs, docs, and observability—that give developers confidence to rely on Claude in critical applications.
- Work with teams across the Platform org to turn Claude’s newest capabilities into experiences developers can pick up and run with, from first prompt to production agent.
- Accelerate the path to agentic development by designing for both human and AI developers.
Beneficial Deployments Engineering
- Build access programs, tooling, and product work that make frontier AI usable for nonprofits, schools, healthcare providers, researchers, and economic mobility programs.
Vertical AI Products
- Build purpose-built experiences for specific industries (examples listed):
- Financial Services: analysts and bankers across investment banking, asset management, insurance, and corporate finance, building models, memos, and decks under deadline.
- Life Sciences: an agentic research platform for scientists, including specialist agents for computational biology, literature review, and regulatory review.
- Healthcare: payer workflows (claims, prior authorization, utilization management) and clinical applications where accuracy and compliance are part of the engineering.
Enterprise AI Products
- Build products that make Claude a daily-use tool for enterprise customers.
- Understand why enterprise users aren’t activating, what blocks adoption, and build capabilities to close those gaps.
- Focus areas include:
- Extensibility (plugins, skills, connectors, and the MCP ecosystem)
- Context (enterprise knowledge, organizational memory, and the retrieval layer)
- Proactivity (cowork suggestions, workflow capture, ambient Claude inside apps people already use)
Public Sector
- Build products that deliver Claude to U.S. federal & state governments and allied democracies, including FedRAMP environments and classified networks.
Enterprise Foundations
- Build systems large organizations require before adopting Claude at scale: identity and permissions, security and compliance controls, and admin analytics.
- Work across Claude.ai, Claude Code, and Cowork with Product and GTM to understand what largest customers need.
Growth
- Drive user acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetization through data-driven strategies and technical implementations.
- Work with engineers, data scientists, marketers, and product managers to design, implement, and optimize growth initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of practical full-stack engineering experience.
- Led design and delivery of complex, consumer or B2B user-facing products across the full stack.
- Technically proficient in modern frontend and backend development, with demonstrated depth in key languages and frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript).
- Product-focused approach to building solutions that are robust, scalable, and easy to use.
- Experience in early-startup or fast-moving, rapidly evolving environments; ideally built products from 0 to 1.
- Successfully driven cross-team alignment to get impactful work shipped, working with influence over authority.
- Experience establishing engineering standards, component architectures, and development best practices.
- Thrives in fast-paced environments and can navigate ambiguity to deliver high-quality products.
Logistics
- Location-based hybrid policy: expect staff to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more time in offices.
- Visa sponsorship: Anthropic does sponsor visas, and if it makes an offer it will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa and retains an immigration lawyer to help.
Minimum education
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Deadline to apply
- None (applications reviewed on a rolling basis).
