Details
The Public Cloud Engineering organization provides foundational platforms, services, and guardrails that enable Bloomberg's use of public cloud technologies. Teams focus on security, governance, identity, networking, observability, deployment, compute, and developer experience to allow engineering organizations to safely and efficiently develop, deploy, and operate solutions across public cloud environments.
Engineers hired will be aligned to one or more platform domains (Cloud Adoption & Governance, Compute Platforms, Compute Deployment, Networking & Connectivity, Identity & Access, Platform Experience, Observability & Reliability) and will collaborate across domains to deliver a cohesive cloud experience for Bloomberg's engineering community.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable platform capabilities that enable public cloud adoption
- Develop self-service tooling, APIs, automation, and workflows to improve developer experience and reduce operational complexity
- Partner with engineering, security, SRE, and infrastructure teams to understand requirements and drive platform adoption
- Build reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions within the platform domain and contribute to broader Public Cloud Engineering initiatives
- Use software engineering and infrastructure-as-code practices to automate platform operations and improve service quality
- Help define standards, best practices, and paved-road experiences for engineering teams building on public cloud
- Contribute to architecture, implementation, and long-term evolution of Bloomberg's public cloud platforms
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering, infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering experience
- Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C++
- Experience designing, building, or operating production systems at scale
- Strong Linux/Unix fundamentals
- Experience with one or more public cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for automation and drive solutions from design through implementation
- Strong sense of ownership and desire to solve complex technical problems
Preferred (We'd love to see)
- Experience building internal developer platforms, cloud platforms, or self-service engineering capabilities
- Experience in areas such as cloud governance/security/compliance automation, identity and access management, secrets/certificate/key management, cloud networking/hybrid connectivity/network automation, compute platforms/runtime environments/workload orchestration, software supply chain security/trusted deployment, observability/telemetry/reliability/incident management, and platform APIs/orchestration/developer tooling
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies
- Experience building highly available, distributed systems and contributing to shared platforms used by multiple engineering teams
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise or regulated environments
- Contributions to open-source software or cloud-native communities
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus
