Bloomberg's Public Cloud Engineering organization builds foundational platforms, services, and guardrails that enable Bloomberg's use of public cloud technologies. This includes security, governance, identity, networking, observability, deployment, and compute.

As the organization grows, Bloomberg is hiring software and platform engineers across multiple technical domains. Successful candidates will join teams focused on one or more areas:

Cloud Adoption & Governance: Workload onboarding and enablement, governance automation, runtime security posture management, and AI onboarding and governance patterns.
Compute Platforms: Cloud compute foundations, runtime standards, platform integrations, and multi-cloud compute capabilities.
Compute Deployment: Trusted compute delivery, image lifecycle management, publishing workflows, provenance, and software supply chain capabilities.
Networking & Connectivity Platform: Cloud networking APIs, hybrid connectivity, network automation, and connectivity controls.
Identity & Access Platform: Human and workload identity, access governance, secrets and certificate lifecycle management, and cloud access foundations.

Engineers collaborate closely within Public Cloud Engineering to deliver a cohesive cloud experience.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate scalable platform capabilities that enable Bloomberg's adoption of public cloud technologies.
Develop self-service tooling, APIs, automation, and workflows that improve the developer experience and reduce operational complexity.
Partner with engineering, security, SRE, and infrastructure teams to understand requirements and drive platform adoption.
Build reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions within your platform domain while contributing to broader Public Cloud Engineering initiatives.
Use software engineering and infrastructure-as-code practices to automate platform operations and improve service quality.
Help define standards, best practices, and paved-road experiences for engineering teams building on public cloud.
Contribute to the architecture, implementation, and long-term evolution of Bloomberg's public cloud platforms.

Requirements

4+ years of professional software engineering, infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering experience.
Strong programming skills in one or more modern programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C++.
Experience designing, building, or operating production systems at scale.
Strong Linux/Unix fundamentals.
Experience with one or more public cloud providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform.
Strong understanding of software engineering principles, distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
A demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for automation and drive solutions from design through implementation.
A strong sense of ownership and a desire to solve complex technical problems.
