Senior Software Engineer, UI Tooling (Full Stack iOS)

Airbnb's UI Tooling team owns the platforms, integrations, and tooling that support designers, engineers, and product managers across the company, including design tooling, UI engineering workflow tooling, collaboration platforms, and AI-powered workflows.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help drive the technical direction of AirChatUI, Airbnb's AI prototyping harness and native macOS app. You will help build and scale systems that generate internal product feature prototypes, internal tools, and data visualizations.

Responsibilities

• Drive the technical direction of AirChatUI and make architectural decisions for systems that enable rapid development of product feature prototypes, internal tools, and data visualizations.
• Design and build macOS and iOS features using modern declarative UI and unidirectional state architecture.
• Contribute to the web-based prototyping functionality in Kyber, Airbnb's web-based prototyping and rapid deployment platform.
• Write and review code hands-on and with AI coding agents, maintaining standards for quality, availability, and system health.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Product, Security, and Design teams to translate cross-organizational objectives into platform capabilities.
• Advance capabilities that enable Product Managers, Designers, and other non-technical builders to create rich product feature prototypes that can translate into production application features.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and contribute to shared iOS patterns and best practices as the team scales.
• Own strategy and execution across web prototyping, iOS prototyping and prototype app deployments, AI integrations, and integration with Kyber.

Requirements

• 5–9+ years of industry experience, ideally in fast-paced environments, with a track record of shipping features in large-scale consumer applications.
• Full-stack engineering capability across backend, frontend, mobile, APIs, and system architecture.
• Proficiency in Swift and modern iOS architecture, including declarative UI such as SwiftUI, unidirectional state management such as MVI, MVVM, or Redux-style architectures, and dependency injection.
• Experience building customer-facing products from zero to one, including product definition, technical architecture, development, and launch.
• Solid understanding of mobile app performance, accessibility, and release/CI practices for large-scale consumer applications.
• A product-first engineering mindset and an understanding that technical decisions support customer-facing products.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience driving initiatives across teams, departments, and leadership.
• Bonus: Experience with modern web development tooling, including TypeScript and React.

Location

This position is US Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation

The base pay range is $196,000–$227,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
