Details
The Autonomous Vehicles Platform team is seeking a hands-on System Software Engineer to develop performant and scalable solutions for data collection and autonomous vehicle fleets. The role focuses on Autonomous Driving Platform software, including platform and middleware features for self-driving cars and software interacting with cameras, LIDAR, RADAR, GPS, IMU, vehicle CAN, and other sensors.
The position involves inventing, developing, and maintaining application frameworks and tools for multi-computer and heterogeneous architectures. The engineer will collaborate across the stack, including platform and embedded software and cloud infrastructure, with a focus on safety and performance.
Responsibilities
- Integrate sensors into the autonomous vehicle driving software stack.
- Develop and improve the startup user experience of the autonomous vehicle stack.
- Work on sensor abstraction layers, data processing, performance optimization, data serialization, and service frameworks.
- Collaborate with hardware, platform software, product, safety, performance, algorithms, and cloud teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 6 years of professional experience working on system software.
- Excellent programming skills in C++, C, and Python.
- Familiarity with source control tools.
- Solid understanding of Linux, QNX, ROS, and/or real-time operating systems.
- Experience developing user-space system software, with a willingness to work in kernel space and/or with low-level hardware when needed.
- Knowledge of embedded systems programming, threading, mutexes, synchronization, communication, and parallel computing for building highly scalable and efficient applications.
- Familiarity with CPU/GPU and memory hardware architecture and performance.
- Prior experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, self-driving cars, GPU technology, embedded systems, or computer vision.
- Outstanding communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of system architecture, including CPU, GPU, memory, and storage, with a focus on performance optimization.
- Experience building autonomous vehicle or robotic systems.
- Hands-on experience with embedded development, operating systems, and real-time software.
Compensation And Benefits
- Base salary range of USD 184,000–287,500 for Level 4.
- Base salary range of USD 224,000–356,500 for Level 5.
- Eligibility for equity and benefits.
- Salary is determined based on location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
