Details

Join the team behind NordVPN, Threat Protection Pro, the NordLynx protocol, and other privacy and security products. This role supports the Infrastructure & Services layer used by internal Data Analysts, Scientists, and Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Run and maintain the Infrastructure & Services layer with a senior-leaning SRE team.
  • Design, build, maintain, and document internal platforms focused on automation, reliability, and scalability.
  • Own the stability, availability, and security of services including Minio, Spark, Kafka, OpenSearch, Tableau, and more.
  • Engineer resilient systems designed to avoid the need for on-call rotations.
  • Support Product teams using services such as OpenSearch for real-time analytics and Tableau for long-term reporting.
  • Debug queries, code, and workflows together with Analysts, Scientists, and Engineers.
  • Drive cost optimization and capacity planning for more than 100 bare-metal servers and petabyte-scale storage.
  • Diagnose hardware faults, including failing disks and memory, and coordinate remote hands for physical fixes.
  • Promote automation and engineering best practices through ongoing research and development.
  • Help shape the team's structure, tooling, and future direction.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering, SRE, or DevOps, with demonstrated ownership of system design and architecture.
  • At least 5 years of production experience with Linux/Debian.
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, and Git.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization; all services are containerized.
  • Production experience managing servers and services with Ansible.
  • Experience with Grafana and observability tooling.
  • Experience building and operating GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to debug across the stack and across team boundaries, including other people's code and data workflows.
  • Practical understanding of server hardware and common failure modes.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset and willingness to solve complex problems.

Bonus Points

  • Experience operating Minio, Spark, Kafka, OpenSearch, or Tableau.
  • Mentoring or technical leadership experience.
  • A home lab.
