Details
Reddit's Content Platform team within Infrastructure builds and operates Tier-0 services and core data models that power feeds, posting, commenting, and upvoting. The team works with Consumer, Ads, Feeds, Storage, and Ranking teams, and maintains R2, Reddit's legacy monolith stack. This remote-friendly role focuses on building high-quality code, scaling infrastructure, and delivering platform services that enable product teams to provide user value.
Responsibilities
- Design, write, and deliver software, primarily in Go and sometimes in Python, to improve product availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.
- Work deeply in a suite of Go services and Reddit's Python-based monolith legacy stack.
- Make system-level improvements, enhancements, and complex code modifications.
- Identify gaps in the current platform and help evolve it for the next two or more years of growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Reddit and actively solicit customer feedback.
- Share on-call responsibilities with teammates.
- Support monitoring and alerting to improve reliability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.
- Continue developing technical, professional, and communication skills.
Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience in a production setting.
- Experience writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages, such as Golang, Python, C++, or Java.
- Experience with one or more databases, such as Cassandra, PostgreSQL, or Redis.
- Experience with modern cloud-based infrastructure, such as Kubernetes, gRPC, AWS, or GCP.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with scaled, high-rate platform services and API design is a plus.

Compensation
The base salary range is $164,200–$229,900 USD. The position may also be eligible for commission depending on the position offered. Reddit provides U.S.-based employees with medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) program with employer match, vacation, and parental leave.
