Details

Develop a long-term technical strategy and drive execution for Reddit's Ads Business Manager team. This high-agency Staff Engineer role follows the Tech Lead archetype and requires deep backend expertise alongside sufficient frontend experience to independently unblock work. The team builds business identity infrastructure, governance and access-control systems, Business Hub experiences, agency enablement capabilities, and enterprise-scale collaboration workflows for Reddit's Ads Platform and other Reddit surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical strategy for business identity, governance, permissions, and organizational management systems serving customer-facing and internal Reddit platforms.
  • Lead large cross-functional projects end to end, from concept, design, and implementation through launch and adoption, while ensuring quality and performance.
  • Conduct customer interviews and translate data and user feedback into roadmap-informed features.
  • Mentor engineers and leaders, share industry knowledge, and contribute to the team's technical growth.
  • Disambiguate complex problems, align stakeholders with different priorities, and prioritize effectively.
  • Make system-level improvements and enhancements and implement complex code modifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to drive adoption of Business Manager and Business Hub capabilities across Reddit.
  • Shape shared business identity, governance, permissions, and organizational infrastructure used by multiple products and teams.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience building production services at scale.
  • Experience in the ads domain.
  • Previous experience as a Tech Lead or in a similar function.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with a service-oriented team and company.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts across different teams and driving alignment among diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience solving complex system scaling and latency performance problems.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more AI tools for all steps of the development cycle.
  • Strong proficiency in Go or Python, plus experience with service frameworks such as gRPC or Thrift and API design.
  • Experience with distributed systems, data modeling, and event-driven architectures such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience building identity, access management, governance, administration, or enterprise platform solutions for large-scale customers.
  • Ability to make UI changes using AI tools such as Codex.
  • Experience building solutions for advertising agencies or other global enterprise customers.
